Here I am again, playing with toxic stuff in order to entertain myself!

I had some pain baguette that I forgot to throw away (as a microbiologist, I guess that I like to start some cultures...). I know that I've done rotten bread pictures in the past, but the variety of species displayed this time caught my attention and interest. Plus, it gave me an excuse to try my brand new macro rail!

So, here I was, equipped with a glove (taken from work) on one hand in order to manipulate and position the subject, all bent over the camera, using my new angle viewfinder to facilitate the whole process, fiddling around with camera and tripod settings with my remaining hand, moving the lamp, trying different poses while not trying to spread or breathe too many spores... (I should have taken a mask from work as well...)

There was so many species, I bet all possible candidates were there... Penicillium sp., Rhizopus sp., Aspergillus sp., etc.

Now, I'd love to do some nude macro, as I already mentionned in the past. Still waiting for an inspiring subject. A photo muse?

I know, a weird question to bring. But really, right now, I am overwhelmed!! I am all over the place jumping in joy!! Where to start?

Friends

When I said that I did not lose any friends when I became single (even the ones who weren't mine in the first place), I was pretty right. But you know, maybe there was one missing. Until today. And I just got back in touch with him. We are so due to catch up infront of a few beers! We scheduled a moment. Life is really jaw dropping. I could just cry of joy now. :,-)

I had a really nice week-end with friends. :,-) And next week-end will be equally filled with people I adore. Computer geeking, knitting, partying and macrophoto shooting in perpective. I am ecstatic!!!

Nice people manifested themselves for tea and I am delighted about that. I am sure that sharing such a passion could lead to nice development... I find that sharing tea with someone is a special moment, a gift, something that bonds on a less shallow level than many other things. Yeah for bonding!

Photos

I received today the macrophoto book I ordered a good while ago. It is so pretty and hot! I love that book! It is really a serious reference filled with content as well as astonishing and awesome pictures. I'll learn a lot!

In the same department, it has been decided today that I'll be at Hugo's next Sunday for a very inspiring and generous macrophoto shooting. I'll bring the whole she-bang, including my hand-made light diffusor (made out of an anti-freeze bottle!). Hugo is so sweet... :,-)

Yeah! I learned today that my money from Canon is available! I've been invited by Jean for dinner. I'll get to show him all my new photo toys. Happiness! Not so much the money, but to get to see Jean. :,-)

Music

I am totally getting absorbed into the new CD I acquired. It is Indochine's latest, called "Alice & June". Despite that I've seen them in show last June, I caught the fever with a delay. I looove that band. 8-)

Computer

I finally received my new computer today. A Mac Mini. I cannot find the words to describe my joy here. I said and I quote 'I could just kiss Steve Jobs right now if he were infront me!", to which I was asked "On the mouth?". And I said yes, in a heartbeat! :-) It is so tiny and cute. Everything is there in this tiny box barely bigger than a pack of 5 CDs. Lots of juicy power, memory and features. I agree with the three guys who told me that Mac is sexy. (I found that they were exaggerating, but now that I have one in my hands, I totally caved!!) I even impressed one of the IT guys at work with it. :-)

All that was before I actually turned it on. I plugged everything and on. First impression: a laugh when I heard the classical Mac booting sound. It didn't change ever! (I haven't been into Mac for the past 9 years). Then, the respectful amazment. I was impressed that everything that could have gone wrong, i.e. all the stuff that I have that is non-Mac, in fact didn't. For instance, the display on my Viewsonic LCD monitor was perfect (no need to play with the settings or to configure anything), it found my wireless network right away and registered me in a second and I could just plug my camera without any Canon software installed and it would transfer them photos nicely. It knows what time we are and everything! MacOs X is sooo beautiful. The mouse is sqeezable to produce a cool view of the desktop!!! I love my new acquisition!!! It comes with a remote to control the music from a distance!!! It is amazing! Impeccable. Nothing to reproach. I am so happy! :,-)

(I'll make things complete this week-end by adding Fedora to it!)

Bouncy bouncy bouncy!!! 8-D

Last Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] photogeek_mtl and I met for a planned photo-excursion at the Botanical Garden!

I've been carrying almost my entire photo gear on me so I don't miss anything. I had all the goodies with me: my juicy macro lenses, my tripod and cool flashes. All that strapped against me, which didn't allow me to go unnoticed in the metro...

The day offered us the opportunity to photograph so many nice flowers, sometimes in a background of Chinese erhu music. I love it...

[livejournal.com profile] photogeek_mtl showed me how to lock my mirror, I allowed him to reach 5X magnification with my MP-E macro lens (sexy!) and somehow the bugs, insects and spiders (they are not insects) were rather dormant that day, allowing us to take good shots at them, to our pleasure :-)

The day was a bit windy, giving us extra challenge sometimes. :-)

I had a lot of fun with [livejournal.com profile] photogeek_mtl who is a really nice and generous guy. And I am happy to have found someone with whom I can do some photo geekage with! Even better, macrophoto geekage! 8-D~

There are already others ideas in the plans for more interesting photo excursion... Everybody, the lanterns are out! The event starts September 8th! Wanna join us...? Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement! Photo geeks, let's gather!
